Gianni Clerici Day II

24 July 2025

On Thursday, April 3, starting at 9:00 a.m., in the Gemelli Hall on Via Trieste, the second day of studies dedicated to Gianni Clerici and his book and archival collection, preserved in our library, will take place.

During the open lecture, Matteo Codignola, writer (Vite brevi di tennisti eminenti), translator, and editor of some of the biggest hits of recent years (La versione di Barney, Zia Mame), and Stefano Semeraro, sports journalist and editor of the magazine Il Tennis Italiano, will speak. their contributions will focus on the theme of “tennis culture” from a literary, translation, and editorial marketing perspective. Among the many books created by Codignola for the Adelphi publishing house is John McPhee’s Tennis, an interesting example of an American book that has been translated but also re-invented in the Italian edition. Semeraro, on the other hand, is engaged in relaunching the illustrious magazine in a new format, focusing not only on tennis as a sport, but also as a cultural opportunity and lifestyle. The event is open to all students enrolled in translation, publishing, economics, and marketing courses, as well as, of course, all tennis enthusiasts.

At the end of the morning, the new website “Lo scriba del tennis. Libri e carte di Gianni Clerici” (The tennis scribe. Books and papers by Gianni Clerici) will be presented, created to promote the heritage of the writer and journalist born in Como.
