
The volume titled The 4 Gianni’s: Brera, Clerici, Minà, Mura and the sport of Repubblica was recently published by Minerva, printed on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Roman newspaper. Inside is a collage of stories, memories, and anecdotes told by Giuseppe Smorto, who was head of the sports pages at Repubblica during the years when that editorial office could count on the contribution of four incomparable figures of sports journalism and beyond—because, as the inside cover reads, “sport is not just entertainment, but a right, a supreme form of dialogue and encounter, a universal language.” In the penultimate chapter, “The Four Giannis and Where to Find Them,” indications are provided on where to track down the treasures left to posterity by these giants of journalism: the pages also mention our Fondo Clerici (Clerici Collection).
